Welcome to the November edition of Joining the Dots in Tech, coming to you during Trans Awareness Week and a host of other awareness periods, including Class Pay Gap day (the day on which professionals from working class backgrounds stop earning in comparison to more socioeconomically advantaged peers), Movember, and International Men's Day.
Here are the latest TTC updates:
🚨 We're busy preparing the 2024 Diversity in Tech Report for you, including for the first time, trans representation in tech. Ahead of its release, join us for a special virtual event: Pride Outside of Prideon 6th December. This session peeks behind the curtain of one of the UKs largest LGBTQ employee networks. It features a panel of leaders with lived experience, responsible for the LGBTQ inclusion programme at Lloyds Banking Group. You won't want to miss this one, especially once you hear what our latest D&I survey uncovered on the topic. Sign up now as spaces will be limited.
♂️ November highlights the importance of men's inclusion, from health and well-being, to their role as allies. We know from our annual survey that more Signatories are including men's issues in their D&I strategy. Marking Movember and International Men's Day, check out our new blog post with one of our favourite videos on Toxic Masculinity and the "man box" and why feminists should care about it.
♿ 16th Nov - 16th Dec is UK Disability History Month. Latest figures report that 23% of the UK working age population is disabled and about half of them are employed, so if you're not already marking the month, this is a sign to check out our resources on disability inclusion; we've also added new content on global disability policies from Business Disability Forum. UK Disability History Month also has dedicated resources here.
👩👦👦 We're working with Mumsnet and Motherboard Charter to tackle the 'motherhood penalty' for women at work. We're looking for businesses who have implemented inclusive parental policies. Please get in touch if your organisation has a great parental policies that we can learn about and spotlight. Also, please check out the Mumsnet Parental Policy pledge and this Mumsnet guest blog, by TTC co-CEO Karen Blake.
Best wishes, the Tech Talent Charter team 😊

✏️ New on the TTC blog
We've got a fantastic blog on engaging socio-economically diversity talent, based on our recent Signatory Forum with founder and CEO of the Ladder Group, Daniel Ball. He's got great insights from his own life as well as his work, which supports young people from low-income backgrounds to get into the tech industry. (You can catch the recording on our YouTube channel if you missed it!).
