Welcome to the June edition of 'Joining the dots in tech'. Following our regional Diversity in Tech Roadshows, we've been at London Tech Week sharing an exciting new report we've created in collaboration with our Signatory, Code First Girls. D&I for Tech Leaders brings together data from over 1,200 women who are learning tech skills, with TTCs data from over 600 Signatories, and shares how we can better attract, retain and develop women in tech careers.
Here are the latest TTC updates:
At London Tech Week we ran a roundtable at the Global Leaders Innovation Summit on upcoming research we will be releasing on attrition of women in tech. Working with our research partner, Attest, and DSIT, we've uncovered new insights into why women leave tech jobs and careers and what businesses could've done to retain them. Alarmingly, we found that 1 in 4 women who leave a tech role are not leaving the workforce; they are leaving for a job outside of tech. We've also uncovered which flexible working arrangement is correlated with higher retention of women in tech. Watch this space to find out the full results when we release the new report.
We were also on the main stage on Wednesday for fireside and panel discussions with Shell, Google, Aviva and Code First Girls discussing our new D&I for Tech Leaders report.
15th June was Social Mobility Awareness Day. TTCs Diversity in Tech report identified this as a key area on which many companies are not yet focusing. So we've written a blog on 5 things you can do for socio-economic diversity at work, and 10 resources that will help you with your practice in this area.
Our broad base of 775+ Signatories includes companies and industries of all sizes from 70+ sectors. We're delighted to welcome these new members who have committed to driving greater workforce diversity. Not yet a member? Join us today!
