The average hourly salary of mothers in the UK is only 72% of that earned by fathers, recent data has revealed. This means the gap is even worse than 50 years ago! As a neurodivergent founder with over a decade of experience in tech, she knows first-hand why this is so important and what to do about it. Here's what she had to say about her journey.

The tech industry is where innovation meets creativity. This industry is at the forefront of embracing diversity and inclusion. It is no secret that for any industry to thrive, it must reflect and embrace the wider society at large. This is particularly true when considering the potential of the 7.7 million disabled people of working age (DWP) in the UK, a significant yet underemployed talent pool that could add immense value to the tech ecosystem. Recognising this untapped potential leads us to explore the compelling reasons behind disability inclusion in the workplace.

Neurodiversity is the natural variation in human brain function and development. It encompasses a wide range of conditions, including but not limited to ADHD/ADD, autism (ASD), dyslexia, Tourette's syndrome, and bipolar disorder. Individuals with neurodivergent conditions have diverse ways of thinking, learning, and communicating. They also bring unique strengths and talents to the workplace, such as innovative thinking, problem-solving skills, creativity, and attention to detail.

Men's health has long been obscured by societal expectations and stereotypes, often leaving men feeling unsupported and vulnerable. However, Movember and International Men's Day present us with a unique opportunity to change this narrative. While these observances raise awareness about health issues, they also celebrate men's contributions to our lives and society.

It's not news that the Tech Talent Charter (TTC) is on a mission to bring together organisations to drive greater diversity and inclusion in the world of technology. We firmly believe that through intentional action, we can arrest the current trend of women leaving the tech workforce. Just 28% of the UK tech workforce are women, and when you look at senior tech role holders, gender diversity decreases even further, dropping by 6 points to 22%. And that’s why leading tech brands are coming together to bring that intentionality and orientation towards action to life.
